Manson Expresses His Expressionism

And it turns out the goth rocker is just as shocking on canvas as in song. At a exhibition Monday night in Moscow, Manson caused jaws to drop as he unveiled his latest works, including "Elizabeth Short: You're Sure You'll Be Comfortable" (a gruesome depiction of a woman with genital-like wounds all over her body), and "Alice" (a nude blonde with a pig emerging from her left breast)."His artworks are just an extension of him," gallery owner Marat Guelman told The Moscow Times. "But they are slower and quieter and more subdued." Of course they are. "Evil Blooms In Watercolor" runs through November 30 at the M&J Guelman Gallery. It's a good idea to visit before having lunch. .

KOREA: Shin files lawsuit against newspaper

Degree scammer Shin Jeong-ah has filed a lawsuit against a local daily which printed her nude photos and raised questions over her improper relations with high-profile figures to help her climb the social ladder.

Seoul Central District Court said Thursday she lodged a complaint against the Munhwa Ilbo and its managing editor, which published two nude photos of Shin in September, alleging that she had intercourse with some influential figures in the art field.

The court said she called on the paper to pay one billion won in compensation as well as correct the reports, alleging that she had neither any nude pictures taken nor had improper relations with high-profile figures to take advantage of their influence.

Shin said she was humiliated by the publication and the mental damage she received could not be cured completely no matter how much money she receives as a compensation.

SHLACHTER, PEROTIN, FUQUAY & CO.: Great Wolf Lodge set to open.

December's here. Sounds like a great time to hit the water slides.

That's the splash that the $200 million Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine hopes to make when it opens its hotel and indoor water park Dec. 21.

The hotel is at Texan Trail, across Texas 26 from the Gaylord Texan. Just like its neighbor, it plans plenty of head-turning attractions:

A water park that includes a lighted funnel-shaped ride, hot tubs, a lazy river, a family raft ride, three body slides, a wave pool and activity pools. Don't worry about the weather: The water is kept at 85 degrees year-round.

A "Snowland" for the winter, an icy attraction that will include snow falling three times a day in the lobby.

A Renaissance-themed interactive game in which players look for clues and activate parts of the hotel by waving a wand.

Some even talked about shipping some of the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants out of the country, the newspaper said.

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. -- who has largely based his presidential campaign on the immigration issue -- refused to take part in the debate. He issued a statement accusing the other candidates of pandering to Hispanic voters and asserting that holding a presidential debate in Spanish was un-American, the Times said.

Conga king was innovator of Latin jazz

Carlos Valdes, better known as Patato, whose melodic conga playing made him a giant of Latin jazz in Cuba and then for more than half a century in America, died Tuesday in Cleveland. He was 81 and lived in Manhattan.

The cause was respiratory failure, said his manager, Charles Carlini.

Born in Havana, Patato (a reference from Cuban slang to his diminutive size) played in the 1940s and early '50s with important groups like Sonora Matancera and Conjunto Casino. He became a star in the early days of Cuban television for his virtuosic playing and for his showmanship; his signature song was "El Baile del Pinguino" ("The Penguin Dance"), which he illustrated with side-to-side, penguin-like movement in perfect time.
