| HP to buy NUR Macroprinters for $117.5M
PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) - Hewlett-Packard Co. said Monday it agreed to buy Israel-based NUR Macroprinters Ltd., a maker of industrial wide-format digital inkjet printers, for $117.5 million. HP, the world's largest technology company by revenue, said the deal will expand its graphic arts portfolio of digital presses and wide-format printers. NUR's printers are used by commercial printing companies, sign and screen printers, billboard makers and photo labs. HP said $14.5 million of the purchase price will be held in an indemnity escrow account. The deal is expected to close when it clears regulatory approvals. In September, HP agreed to buy MacDermid ColorSpan Inc., another maker of wide-format digital inkjet printers, for an undisclosed sum. Copyright 2007 Associated Press.

Former Stonewall Democratic Club President and City Council candidate Bob Zuckerman thinks the current City Council has spent a little too much time passing unneeded legislation. “I may introduce one resolution if I'm in the City Council, and that is to ban resolutions," Zuckerman says in this clip, taken outside a holiday party last week. The Council, Zuckerman says, “really needs to focus on important issues that affect people's lives, not things like street renaming, and banning words, which is impossible to do, and banning aluminum bats, and controlling how much work kids do." Art department opens its doors
Raven van Noordan, a graduate graphic design student, was excited Friday. She finally got to try a Bedazzler when she was
decorating her T-shirt at one of the art department's Open Studio events, a design -yourown- T-shirt contest. "I had always seen it advertised on TV and thought it couldn't be that great, but I was wrong" she said. Noordan's enthusiasim for the Bedazzler paid off when she won one of the prizes for the contest. With the Open Studio, the art department hoped to educate the Terre Haute and ISU commuity about what the art department has to offer, said Alden Cavanaugh, the interim chair of the art department. "We want people to know we're here," Cavanaugh said. The Open Studio allowed people outside the art department to experience firsthand the workings of the art department.

United State Artists- Arts Foundation Grants 2007
United States Artists, an arts advocacy organization, has awarded fifty $50,000 unrestricted grants to artists of all disciplines from across the country, in recognition of the caliber and impact of their work.
The USA Fellows program honors artists working in eight artistic disciplines and at all stages of their careers, from emerging artists to mid-career to those who have achieved master status in their fields. The USA Fellowships for 2007 include three in Architecture and Design; five in Crafts and Traditional Arts; six in Dance; nine in Literature (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, playwriting); five in Media (film, radio, video); six in Music; six in Theater Arts; and 10 in Visual Arts. Collectively, this year's USA Fellows represent a diverse spectrum of geographic, cultural, and ethnic perspectives.
